Los Angeles International (LAX) already has the most Airbus A380 service of any U.S. airport. Now, it's about to get more courtesy of Australian carrier Qantas, which says it plans to increase its number of flights to LAX on the A380, the world's biggest commercial passenger jet.

Qantas currently operates three weekly A380 flights on its LAX-Melbourne route. But the airline says it will add a fourth A380 flight on the route when it takes delivery of its ninth A380 and will go to six after it adds its tenth A380, which is expected by March 2011. Qantas currently has six A380s in service.

"The Airbus A380 is the flagship of the Qantas fleet," Qantas CEO Alan Joyce says in a press release. "Los Angeles-Melbourne is an important trunk route for Qantas, so we have targeted an increased frequency of A380 services to serve this significant American market."

Qantas already offers daily A380 service between Los Angeles and Sydney. Original Article >>
